Shame on the New Hampshire State Senate for passing Obamacare's Medicaid expansion
(March 6th, 2014) - Today, the New Hampshire State Senate passed SB 413, Obamacare's Medicaid expansion in New Hampshire, with a vote of 18 - 5 (with one senator abstaining).
Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire's Executive Director, Matthew Murphy, released the following statement:
"We are incredibly disappointed in the New Hampshire State Senate for voting to pass Obamacare's Medicaid expansion today. From longer wait times at the emergency room, to higher costs that could lead our state on a path towards a sales or income tax, SB 413 finally brings the tentacles of a failing Obamacare directly into the Granite State. From the outset, we knew it was going to be a difficult road to stop this bill from passing the state senate. However, that did not deter us and it does not discourage us from continuing this fight in the New Hampshire House - the cost of not standing up against such a terrible bill is just too great.
"We applaud Senator Andy Sanborn for leading the charge against Obamacare's Medicaid expansion and for being such a strong voice for the New Hampshire taxpayer. We also thank Senator Russell Prescott, Senator Sharon Carson, Senator John Reagan, and Senator Sam Cataldo for listening to their constituents and voting against SB 413. To the rest of our state senators who supported Obamacare's Medicaid expansion today, shame on you for endorsing a program that will have such a negative impact on so many New Hampshire families. The Granite State deserves better."
