Rand Paul to attend fundraiser for Citizens for A Strong NH

Posted on

If Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul wins the 2016 Republican presidential primary one reason is that he is built up relationships with key conservative activists in the state very early in the process.

So while Paul will address a large gathering of activists at summit organized by Americans for Prosperity and attend a large event for the state Republican Party on the Seacoast, he will also attend intimate fundraisers with some key players.

WMUR has learned that added to Paul's schedule this weekend is a small fundraiser in Manchester for the non-profit group Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire. This week the group launched radio ads attacking U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen over the Affordable Care Act and testified at a legislative hearing against raising the gas tax.

The fundraiser will be held Saturday at Legacy Financial Solutions in Manchester. The event is co-hosted by Stephen Mathieu and Jean Esslinger, who is former vice chair of the Manchester Republican Committee.

"Our organization is honored to have Senator Rand Paul join us for an important discussion about his efforts to advocate for limited government, lower taxes, and less spending on Capitol Hill," said the Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire spokesman Derek Dufresne.

This is one of two events for the organization this month. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz will also raise money for the group on April 27 in Rye.
