Steve King, Iowa congressman and potential 2016 GOP presidential candidate, to speak in N.H. this fall

Posted on

U.S. Rep. Steve King, an Iowa Republican and possible 2016 presidential candidate, will be in Manchester this fall to speak at a conservative conference.

Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire, a Republican-linked group founded early this year, will hold its first “Strong New Hampshire Conference” in Manchester on Oct. 12. The group announced this morning that King is “tentatively confirmed” to speak at the event.

King has been mentioned as a potential presidential candidate in 2016, and the conservative congressman told National Review earlier this month, “I haven’t ruled anything in or out.”

New Hampshire, of course, holds the first presidential primary. King was apparently in the state earlier this month and visited Dixville Notch.

Other speakers at the Oct. 12 event include Elbert Guillory, a Louisiana state senator; Howie Carr, the Boston talk-radio host and columnist; and Jordan Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice.

Derek Dufresne, a Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire spokesman, said in a statement the conference “will include important messages from some very distinguished speakers, will allow us to showcase the work we have accomplished and focus on how we can continue to effectively fight for the issues we hold dear.”
