Former Sen. Scott Brown to appear at city fund-raiser
Former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown will visit the city this fall for a special fund-raiser event at the home of Dan and Renee Plummer.
Brown, the former Republican senator from Massachusetts, will appear at the Plummer’s home in downtown Portsmouth for a fund-raiser for conservative advocacy group Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire.
Renee Plummer, vice president of marketing at Two International Group, said the event will be held in concert with the New England Patriots’ game. She said it will also involve young professionals being given the opportunity to learn from leaders such as Brown about what it takes to be a valuable part of their community.
Plummer, a known conservative supporter, said she looks forward to hosting Brown as well as other local business leaders.
“It’s great for Portsmouth,” she said
Brown, who recently appeared on stage with Cheap Trick at the Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach, has ruled out a run for Massachusetts governor, but continues to draw interest about a possible run for the U.S. Senate from New Hampshire next year.
He has a vacation home in Rye, but would have to establish residence in the state to try tounseat incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
