Shea-Porter's Solution: Raise Taxes
Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter has recently stepped up her rhetoric on raising taxes on New Hampshire families by coupling a message that “our country isn’t broke” with continued calls for “increasing revenue,” which is code for higher taxes.
Don’t take our word for it. Recently, Congresswoman Shea-Porter said: “We watch television and they make it look as if (our country) is broke; we’re taking the very last dollar in the Treasury. That’s not so.” …. “This country is not broke.”

Just last week, Rep. Shea-Porter then added to this message in her own column
where she says “There is plenty of revenue to be found.” She continued with “America desperately needs revenue to rebuild transportation and communication infrastructure and create jobs, to provide health care to seniors and poor children, to invest in medical and business research and technology, to educate our young people, keep our country safe, and to pay down our debt.” Read the column here: http://shea-porter.house.gov/media-center/carolscolumns/common-cents-for-raising-revenue
Derek Dufresne, spokesman for Citizens for a Strong New Hampshire, Inc,
made the following statement:
“New Hampshire taxpayers know the problem isn’t that they are taxed too little, but that elected representatives like Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter are addicted to spending too much.
“At some point, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter needs to realize Granite State families can’t afford her continued calls for higher taxes and more spending to fund her big government agenda. We urge Granite Staters to contact Carol Shea-Porter at 603-641-9536 and tell her to stop her addiction to out-of-control spending and start fighting for New Hampshire taxpayers and their families.”
